07Repair Process
Here are the basics of the repair process at Passport Collision Center to help you understand what goes on when you bring your vehicle in for collision repair.

1: Estimate
Before any work can be done, we will assess the damage to your vehicle. Our staff will then give you or your insurance company a complete written estimate. Also, any parts needed to make the repair will be ordered during this phase.

2: Vehicle Prep
The damaged parts of your vehicle will be disassembled and the vehicle repair will be blueprinted. You will be alerted if there is any hidden damage found at this point.

3: Body Work
This is where the structural body repairs will be repaired: dents are taken out, new panels prepared and installed, priming, sealing and corrosion protection applied. The repair area will be cleaned, sanded and ready to be painted.

Reducing insurance premiums

Keep a clean record
Some insurers offer a discount to drivers who consistently prove to be safe drivers by not receiving moving violations or being involved in accidents. At the least, keeping a clean record will prevent extra surcharges from being added to your premium.

Maintain consistent coverage
Customers who do not lapse in their insurance often receive a better premium when applying for new coverage.

Take a defensive driving course
Drivers who participate in official courses in defensive driving may see reductions in their rates, especially if accidents or moving violations appear on their driving records.

Take a Driver Improvement course
For drivers over 55 years of age, these refresher courses can improve skills while reducing rates.

Choose a suitable vehicle
Certain vehicles are cheaper to insure depending on their characteristics. A basic Volvo and a powerful Chevrolet Corvette are likely to have very different rates.
